MIcromosaic of cm 8.70x5.80 representing "The mill or Landascape with Marriage of Isaac and Rebecca" from the painting by Claude Lorraine, which was commissioned by camillo Pamphilij between 1646 and 1647, a known version in the National Gallery, another in Palazzo Doria Panphilij - Roma; the micromosaic is protected by a convex glass and yellow gold framed. Original case with Pope's arms. Appended a Sale Letter by Enrico Podio - Study of all kind and style - Campo San Moisé n°1466 Venezia, dated 8 April 1887, in which he mentions as probable author of this mosaic the talented Gabrini from Rome and that the object may have been a gift of Pope gregorio XVI for a noble roman family; actually Gabrini (1856 - 1926) painter and mosaicist was member of a group of Vatican mosaicists, but too late to be the author of this particular mosaic. Much more probably the author is Francesco De Poletti (1779 - 1854) who realized this bucolic scene in two different versions during his life. De Poletti had many connections with Pope Gregorio XVI, and in particular, as specified in the Treccani Encyclopedia, in 1837 during the cholera epidemic that hit Rome, he was decorated by Pope gregorio XVI with the gold medal for service during that dramatic period.
