The plates show both sides of the Canal, with captions detailing all of the main buildings depicted. The 47 plates were originally issued in 1828 as an accordion-folded panorama. Antonio Quadri was secretary to the Governor of Venice and wrote several books about Venice designed for visitors of his native city. Oblong folio (285 x 430mm). Half-title with fine engraving of the Rialto Bridge, map of Venice and 47 engraved numbered plates which form a large Panorama of the Grand Canal (small repair on title without loss, few marginal light spots). Editorial boards printed in black and backed in leather (corners bumped, some spotting).
