[Rome: S. L., S. D., but ca. 1690]: A magnificent collection of plates depicting Rome by Falda: "This collection of plates is the most charming that has ever appeared on the fountains of Rome and its environs" (Fowler). Very good impressions in a fine red morocco binding by Sizer. 4 parts in one volume, oblong folio (273 x 406mm). Complete with the 107 engraved plates: part I with 33 plates numbered [1-2], 3-33; part II with 18 unnumbered plates (as in the copy in the Biblioteca Marciana of Venice, in both copies at the Biblioteca Centrale of Rome and in the copies found on the market, but differently than the collation on SBN calling for 19 plates); parts III and IV with 28 numbered plates of which one folding (the folding plates backed in cloth and the final two plates expertly laid on later paper), each part with a frontispiece and a dedication plate included in the count. Red morocco by Sizer (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: ownership note in English on flyleaf.
