A fine gilt bronze box composed by two pliable trays, each with twelve auspicious coins, decorated with lotus motifs in high relief, the cover with an inscription dedicated to a Pavilion of the Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan. Each coin with an auspicious inscription both in mandarin and manchu script combined with auspicious script and wan character. The base with an apocryphal Qianlong mark China, 19th century (20.6x14x9 cm.)
