RICCHIERI, Ludovico (1469-1525) - Lodovici Caelii Rhodigini Lectionum antiquarum libri XVI. Basel: Johann Froben, 1517. Fine 16th century book with elaborate contemporary bookbinding of the German area. Folio (317 x 216mm). Title within architectural woodcut borders, followed by 2 decorated folios on the recto with woodcut frames, printer's device at the last folio with polyglot motto (lacking 2F3 and 2F4 which were originally substitute by mistake by 2E3 and 2E4, some spotting and some small stains at the edges, some soiling, some more noticeable browned at Aa2 verso and Aa3 recto). Pigskin on wooden boards, 16th century, dry-decorated, double band, two signs of metal clips (without bands of clasps, signs of wear especially at the spine and along the board edge, lightly rubbed, some stains). Provenance: coat of arms with two swords at the front board, presumably identifiable with EBDB s033152, laboratory in Monaco of Bavaria, early handwritten notes in ancient, by at least three different hands, in brown, dark brown and reddish-brown ink, two of which to the endpaper "Fabricii bibl. med. Lat. I. iii4" e "Baillet Iugem. II 98. praesertim 137.".
