INGHIRAMI, Francesco (1772-1846) - [COLLEZIONE DI TAVOLE DA:] Galleria omerica o Raccolta di monumenti antichi. S.L.: [Poligrafia Fiesolana, 1829-31]. A collection of 260 plates from Inghirami's Galleria omerica, many handcoloured. Inghirami was curator of the public library of Volterra, where a considerable collection of Etruscan antiquities was housed. There he developed a method of copying the objects with remarkable precision and went on to founding a private press and engraving centre in the grounds of the ancient abbey at Fiesole, the Poligrafia Fiesolana. A wide variety of engraving techniques are represented in this work, which was originally published in parts: some of the plates are coloured by hand, others are a result of his own two-colour printing process. 8vo (216 x 140mm). 260 plates, many handcoloured, others printed in colours (some occasional marginal foxing). Contemporary leather (some wear). The lot is accompanied by an export license.
