Export license is available for this lot Abstinence was a ceremonial requirement prior to worshipping the ancestors at court during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). The abstinence period lasted for three days, during which courtiers were to refrain from eating meat and fragrant herbs, from consuming alcohol, and from any intimate acts.
